You've got it. They don't necessarily beg you to stick around for the long haul. Angus's belief is that a 1st year captain performs the same duties as a 5th year captain for less money...so why would he want to keep you around for longer than 3-4 years? The folks at U3K are well aware that they are a training ground for jetBlue...and a stopping point for folks on their way to SWA, UPS, FedEx, Cathay, etc. They did have a training contract for $20,000 at one point a couple of years ago, but that is now gone. They also were originally requiring that you give up your number at your other airline...but this is no longer the case. Just when you think the pool of pilots with these qualifications that would be willing to work there is drying up, along comes another batch (Independence Air).
