One CA tried to manage my rest period (and the FA's) re. alcohol. HIS policy (applied to all crew members) was 16 hours or therabouts (company policy = 8 hours). He sputtered some crap about PIC authority and told him to call the CP (whom I know) and have the CP call me if needed. End of story

You are correct sir, once you walk away from the plane, it is your time. The hotel van is anyones territory. I have seen captains try and exercise their off duty authority and make fools of themselves.
