I can't believe someone would offer to fly for free. That's ridiculous. Back when I was a flight instructor I wouldn't instruct for free - not even for fellow instructors or friends. They understood. And as much as my students were upset by the mandatory 0.2 to 0.4 addition of time to their bill for training flights - it didn't bother me. My time and experience is valuable, even if I'm doing 141 paperwork I should get paid for it. If you don't get paid for doing it, you can't call yourself a professional. Everyone who does something like that brings down the value of our profession.

And like byebyeairlines, I too am considering a career change because we are not paid what we're worth.
