Heard last night from a department head that we will be parking all the DC-8's by APRIL!!! Also said that many of the international flights are going from 5x weekly to 2x weekly. This does not bode well for hiring until 2012 or beyond. Still getting the 3 767's this year. Said volume has dropped off a cliff and Atlanta feels there has been a permanent shift away from the next day product. Said the fuel surcharges got so high that businesses tried the ground product and liked it just the same. This is gonna get ugly. I think the "no furloughs for now" talk is ridiculous.
Parking all of the Dc-8s by April??!! Posting that is akin to screaming "fire" in a crowded movie theater these days with Biggs on here. I'm calling you out and publicly stating that you made it up. Who was the Department head who said it? And if it really was a dept head than why are you the only one he/she told this to?
