Upgrade: Etihad stated that a new hire couldn't upgrade for 18 months: if you get hired as a A320 FO you most likely would be able to bid over to 330/340 FO 6-12 months after being hired and then upgrade to A330/340 CA after 18 months, if the upgrades where running that quick, which seems like they will be given their growth forcast.
Equiptment type: It seems to be the case: It looks like Etihad and Emirates are both only interviewing guys with experiance in glass Boeings for the 777 and Airbus experiance for the Airbus. If hired you will go to the type of aircraft you have experiance in. I have my application in with both. I spoke with the Etihad recruiter at a road show and they stated only time in either type of aircraft type would get you and interview at this time.
Commuting: For me, I am planning on moving over there with her and finding a job. Either in the corporate arena, or with Etihad, Emirates or Fly Dubai. I will take a leave of absence for the US airline life for awhile and try something different. I really liked it over in the UAE. It will be no problem lifestyle wise for us to live there.
Again sorry for the delay.
RawTriGuy, how do they handle the upgrades? Do they have the traditional seniority list we have or do they keep you on the airframe? Do they upgrade you based on flying performance rather than number?
Thanks for taking the time post the above information and in answering my questions.
