What the #$%! is this guy talking about? Didn't you guys fight tooth and nail to get what you deserved? What was that strike all about? So you can roll over and "look ahead to the future"
In retrospect I believe it was more of a "sweetheart deal" than what was deserved or fair. The company was held hostage so long they had to give in or eventually liquidate. The paycuts take us down back to reality, unfortunate as it may be. The bottom line is we would all love to have sweetheart deals like the majors had but the glory days are over. I wouldn't call it rolling over id call it having a big set of kahunas standing up for what we believe in. We now look forward to a succesful tomorrow with a contract more in the middle. Life ain't easy when your in BK court. The sooner we realize the past is gone and gas is much more expensive the better off we will all be. Armed with this information we can all face a better tomorrow. Now the next step is getting American Eagle style contracts. 16 year contracts with provisions for arbitration every 4-5 years to keep up with inflation etc. 16 year contracts and arbitration are the only way to fly. That way there is a lot less union drama to contend with. In fact straight arbitration is even better. That way both sides will get a fair deal and no more having to strike only to be brought back to reality a few years later anyway. The full pay til the last day concept needs to go the way of the dinosaur as well. Saying you got full pay til the last day is like bragging about being at the flight controls as your crash. Either way you still crash and burn at the end.
