From what I understand, neither the pilots nor management can make changes during the period from after certification to a contract. No new policies can be setforth from management's side and the pilots can't organize a strike/sick out. It must remain the same, there can be no "punishment."
Yes, you are now in status quo. There are some exceptions but for the most part they cannot unilaterally change any existing policies without negotiating it first.
