A no strike clause is fantastic for job security. A 16 year contract also means instead of going through union drama every 4 years wondering if you will be able to feed your family or not you get to do arbitration and get cost of living/industry standard raises. Its a win win situatin really. In fact I think comair or the next airline can "raise the bar" by agreeing to a 20-25 year contract with arbitration every 4-5 years. Its a win win situation really. You don't have to go through the drama and propoganda every 4-5 years. Its actually a no brainer. Why ALPA isn't trying to think of new ideas like this I dunno. To them ignorance is bliss I guess.
I guess it all depends on what is agreed to before the contract is signed. However, i would never agree to give up my right to a job action, putting my trust in the company to bargain in good faith.
