My fiance and I were doing just fine financially, until she was laid off from her job with little to no warning.
Ok, so from that point of view how would you feel if the reason she got laid off was one of her coworkers said they'd be willing to do her work. Lets say she worked 40 hours a week and two of her coworkers said, yea we'll both work 20 hours extra... that pretty cool with you?
Just checkin.
I've for the most part kept my mouth shut, and I'm in most cases a very reasonable guy but I'll go one further than everyone else. If you haven't been furloughed, you really don't get an opinion. I was lucky, I had money saved and I've got another flying job now but not everyone is so lucky. There are guys I worked with that are now working at walmart and fast food chains to pay their bills. Those guys had flying jobs before they went to the airline, those jobs have evaporated now. I had never been unemployed since high school before my furlough, you just literally can't understand what it is without doing it yourself.
Ok so the reserves aren't flying.... is this more of less likely to change when people pick up open time? If I were a reserve right now I'd be begging people not to pick up open, if they fly close to reserve their jobs are safe. If they fly 30 hours a month, how long will it be before the company reduces staffing agian?
There's always going to be the jerk who's out for himself, that doesn't make it right. People have an underdeveloped sense of shame.
