I think the software package APC uses is from
vBulletin, and the search engine and its functions are theirs as well. Who knows what a child forum is unless it is a forum for kids? Or is it a technical term, I do not know.
As far as the unreliability of it, it worked well prior to the approximate time of the server change earlier this year (earlier in 2008) and I would hypothesize that has something to do with it. Maybe the user content was never indexed properly for the search engine to
see because it obviously has it.
