Unfortunately, we held up our end of the bargain while the company gave us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING,
Good luck with "good working relations with management".
Management is not your friend and you guys are in desperate need of some form of solidarity to confront them with.
Waterboard and his band of blue idiots are just management wanna-be's who can't wait to make the leap over to the dark side, (see corporate HQ).
In addition to the PA we've had an in-house union (IACP) and a couple of ineffective versions of Student Council. All of the non-union organizations were nothing more than management creations to keep the pilots quiet with the same touchy-feely "good management relations" garbage you're being fed today, in the case OF DB by an actual ex-CAL manager! Only a real union (IACP) was able to deliver a significantly better contract in relatively good economic times. Our first ALP contract was concessionaly, but after 9/11/01 every contract was. We're working on improvemenents now.
If for only one reason--mergers--you guys need to get yourself organized now! You have no idea how far behind the power curve you are. An acquiring company could care less about your flexible, non-binding FSM. And if you think in this environment you can't be acquired, you haven't paid much attention to history.
