That being said, if the FD side of the pilot equation is close to properly staffed and the FN side is short 300-500, why wouldn't they be thinking of hiring? And then throw in any retirements in the next year on top of that....it all depends on whether we are properly staffed or not.........

Because the truth is that FD is plus 300 on staffing and FN needs 300 to implement the work rules. If any training / indoc. is to take place, it will be to move the pilots from one certificate to the other in the interim.
