I'd treat them as if they were my mom or dad... I'd ask what makes them think something might be wrong and then would try to explain what the noises really mean...
Not getting paid for doing that but deep inside I just hope that if one of my relatives was "that annoying passenger" someone would take his/her time to alleviate his or her fears...
