I agree with you Atwoo about public perception.
We don't have to help reinforce wrong ideas though.
If Joe or Jane Passenger gets reinforcement of his/her fears from garbage posts like the OP, that's not a good thing.
There's lots of non-aircrew lurking around this site.
So, I'll say it again. It is not against FAA regulations to consume alcohol in uniform. It IS against FAA regulations to perform duties while under the influence of, or within certain time limits of consuming alcohol.
