Whether they are on duty or not, work for your airline or not, or just got fired, it IS your duty to say something. PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING here folks. I don't care WHO you work for...........you need to stand up for OUR profession and say something. Can you imagine how you'd feel if YOUR family member was going to be traveling on a flight with this individual in a few hours? Do none of you have standup overnights that let you get minimal rest? Is the safety of the people behind the cockpit door not important to you? Would you then not think anything? I highly doubt it. If I had seen the same situation, I'd have gone up to the individual, introduced myself, asked them if I could speak to them privately for a few minutes, and then proceeded to tell them that they could drink till the cows come home ONLY if they removed their uniform/epaulets, wings, etc. A bar is NOT the place for a crewmember in uniform to be seen drinking....END OF STORY. Whatever that individual chose to do at that point is their problem, but just IGNORING the problem is only asking for trouble. If their was an incident concerning that individual a few hours later, would you be happy that you saw a problem and did NOTHING? I don't think so. I was in the military for over twenty years and THAT is a whole different ballgame, so for some to equate the two, it is totally wrong. I have to tell you, I'm a bit surprised at some of the "look the other way" posts I have seen here. And then you wonder why some passengers act the way they do around us.
I know who we should call on this one ...
