I too have had crews share meals with me. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER been treated as anything less an equal by AA crews... and I've been in their cockpits about two-hundred times in the past five years, maybe more.

I was in MIA trying to get to DFW in uniform, with 2 other pilots in uniform (AE and someone else) - the captain pointed at all three of us and said, "I will not leave with any empty jumpseats on this plane. You will all get home today." That was pretty cool. I like the 'no man left behind' attitude.

Its cool that the captain gave you his number so you could call him! It keeps the gate agent from trying the god-complex routine!
