Maybe at the majors but on the rj guys are getting hired with 500 total time. So you tell me after a 1000 hours in the right seat they are ready for CAL. That explains it all.
Does CAL get good people, yes. But alot of there new hires couldn't even apply at other airlines. I know alot that got turned down at other airlines so they took there offer at CAL.
What's the big difference in flying a Canadair or Embraer vs. a Boeing or Airbus? The performance isn't going to be a huge stretch compared with a prop vs. jet. If they can fly a 50 seat jet then they should be able to fly a 150 seat jet.
Just because someone doesn't meet minimum requirements doesn't mean they are worse than others that do. You are both probably
qualified for the job. One just happens to be more
competitive.
