Lesson learned
Don't pass up any of the Lynx flights for a United CRJ flight.
I made that mistake last month, Dec. 2, 08. Came into Terminal C, saw that there was a Skywest CRJ going out of Terminal B about the same time as Lynx out of Terminal A. I couldn't make a try @ one and still make the other, so I went to Skywest first b/c it was closer. The agent told me the loads were "great" I should have ran for Lynx right then, but I didn't. I listed for the seat. Didn't even bother going to Lynx.
1.5 hours later, I'm sitting in the gate area and I see my name on the 'not cleared' list. I should have ran for Lynx right then, but I didn't.
Now the agent is telling me "You'll make it, but can you sit in the flightdeck just in case?" I should have ran for Lynx right then, but I didn't. Instead, I replied, 'Sure, as long as the Captain ok's it.'
I ran into the CA, asked about the weight, he told me 'I think you'll be ok'. I should have ran for Lynx right then, but I didn't.
Now I'm getting on the plane, and the CA's telling me, 'Man, I'm trying to get you on, but . . .' I should have ran for Lynx right then, but I didn't. I wait, and, sure enough, I'm not gonna' make it b/c of weight. It's early December, there's snow on the ground in both DRO and DEN, and I'm weight denied. And I missed the Lynx flight too.
I went directly to Terminal A and Lynx and didn't even ask the Skywest agent about the loads for the next UAX CRJ. I got on easily and had a row all to myself on Lynx. My Lynx flight arrived 2-3 minutes after the UAX CRJ . . . which was likely weight restricted.
Lesson learned. Always take a Dash or mainline before an RJ.
