Too many Avantair threads to choose from to post on, but trying to stay away from the "bankruptcy" one.
I'm looking at making Avantair my next goal in aviation. Currently, I'm disabled due to an accident (reckless pickup took me out on my motorcycle) and have loads of time for research. Avantair looks like a stable company and the relative economy of the Avanti leads me to believe they have a fair chance of going the distance in this industry. And it doesn't hurt that I love that airplane!
I'm not flying now and it may be several months to a year before I can get back into a cockpit full time, so I know I might have to go back and do some instructing or pipeline patrol again to build up recent time. But so far I've logged 1670TT and 500ME. After getting some recent time, what would be the best next step? I don't have any turbine time and know I'll need more multi to be competitive, so what could be some options?
I've read somewhere that Avantair wants "high-speed turboprop" or jet time. Is this true? A couple options I've looked at are flying Grand Canyon tours or a few years with Seaborne in the Caribbean. I think it would possible to get on with both of these with relatively low times, but would flying a Twin Otter be a bad move? I wouldn't want to spend a few years racking up time that would effectively be useless for what I want to do.
Any info, insight, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
