Your experience is not as extensive as you think. Some major carriers, beside FDX, do spread the pain to keep the guys on the property. More than one for sure. BTW, companies like to do it that way too. They don't like the disruption of furlough.

Keep doing your individual thing. Don't bother to apply for a union position, they'll smell you a mile away.
Please provide me some facts to back up your assertion. If you refer to a "cap and bank" your right. But remember, those systems are as inherent to the individual airline's culture as carryover is to ours.
