I have an R line in January with 4 carry over R days in February. I also have an R line in February with vacation in February. As part of my reconstruction request I asked for those days to be removed for vacation(did not hit them with actual vacation or buffer days). Scheduler did not remove those days. When questioned why not, the scheduler replied that she would have removed them but was not allowed to impact activities in the current bid month(Jan). Also said that this is not in the contract but is mandated by legal admin. This is total skedspeak to me. Sounds like they are making up rules outside the contract to fit their own needs. I contacted my ACP and got no help other than an offer to drop those days (without pay, of course). I have already contacted ALPA contract enforcement with a request to file a grievance over this. Anyone have any personal experience with this situation? Anyone ever have carryover R days removed under this same circumstance?

d. A reserve line awarded to a pilot with a scheduled vacation
in the bid period shall be reconstructed as follows:
i. A pilot’s reconstructed line shall contain the originally
scheduled blocks of R-days that did not conflict with
vacation (or the vacation buffer), unless the number of
R-days in those block(s) plus the number of vacation
days exceeds the number of R-days in the bid period
(i.e., the pilot’s vacation conflicts with fewer R-days
than the number of vacation days). In that case, the line
shall be reconstructed preserving the greatest number
of originally scheduled R-day blocks as possible
