They said that its because their union protects them. I explained that in fact you have taken a cut based on the fact that your hourly gaurentee has been reduced from 68 to something like 62 resulting in roughly a 20% pay cut. (would that be 20% ?) They just kind of starred at me. I didnt really go into how much per hour you guys get paid. I'm thinking they would have gotten stuck on the per hour rate and never would do the math. No sense stirring the pot. A manger also came up and said they had heard in a meeting yesterday that the pilots will be furloughing soon. Am I right on this or was I talking out my shorts? I know the F word has been kicked around but what about the other?
Thanks. Actually the guarantee dropped from 68 to 48, while the actual normal monthly average has dropped from about 75+or- to about 62+or-. So 20% is not too far off, on average. Of course, some are seeing almost a 30% drop in hours, depending on seat and equip and seniority.
As far as the F word, skim thourgh a few of the other threads here in the Cargo section. You'll find numerous theories, insights, guesses, predictions, etc. The threat, though, I believe, is real!
