Bad idea...the problem is that if non-pilots becomes eligible for the cockpit jumpseat, the day after that is set in stone they will IMMEDIATELY start pushing for JS access based on seniority, ie DOH! A lot of senior FA's would have a much easier commute to work and a lot of pilots would be SOL. Remember FA's don't have a retirement age...their seniority keeps accruing until they petrify.
