I've been lucky, I have never had a formal interview at a job I got. I have interviewed at Airnet, didn't get the job(thankfully, it worked out for everyone that I didn't). I called a local 135 operator that I didn't even know existed, and his response was "Can you get here in 30 minutes, I got a trip to MEM." I show up, the trip cancelled, but I talked with him for maybe 20 minutes, and was hired. This was all on a whim, and was mentioned to me by my current employer(at the time I only had 1400hrs, and wasn't even qualified to work here). So randomly, a year and a half later I'm getting some training in the C421, and it needs some avionics' work done, so I bring it to my current employer, and went up to talk to the Pres. who refered me to the 135 job to thank him for info on it. I get in his office, and he comes out and says "We need a pilot, what time you have now?" So in 20 minutes I had a job offer, and thought about it over a few days and took the job. Haven't looked back since! I have been extremely lucky, but I attribute it to right place, right time, and right people(good old Midwest!)
