Get a CFI job somewhere...anywhere...and hold on to it. Thats about as best you can do right now.
Compared to what they are used to getting its still not too bad. Figure the average banner tow, pipeline, traffic watch pilot had maybe 3-400 hours they are now getting resumes with 6-800 hours.
Where I have seen the slip is applying for the PC-12 jobs or the piston pressurized twins (414/421) or the van jobs. When before roughly 1200-1500 hours would put you in the "competitive" realm you now typically do not have a chance with under 3000 hours. I have a bit over 2000 hours and a decent amount of time in the cessna 414 and when I applied to a part 91 job flying one I lost out to a furloughed cargo guy who was a 75 captain for 10 years.
