This is my opportunity to highly encourage others to do a gear down 1/2 flap "slow" (airspeed) descent. It's nice to have the approach and landing checklists done above F200 and have nothing to worry about other than threat avoidance and finding the runway.
I'm with you man, that is the best, most controlled and imho safest way to do it, ESPECIALLY in the dark peering through toilet paper rolls. I too am expecting to hear something like too low gear, acknowledged were vis, or a whole bunch of bs caws for rad alt or other junk and a bunch of sh!t radios going off in their ears while they are in the last 5 miles. At least everyone was OK. Continues to give me confidence in the way the ol' Moose is built because it has taken a beating on several occasions now and continues to protect the crew, could be luck but whatever it is its good
