It would not sound like phone. The oe or ö is a sound we really don't have in English.

Anyway, yes, the Föhn is a warm wind and on the northern side of the Alps it can be really warm and the visibility and air clarity are almost unbelievable. Even from 50 miles away it's almost as if you could touch the Alps.

On the southern side it's the opposite, with the moisture getting trapped against the mountains with lots of rain and strong winds and otherwise odd weather, making flight ops in Lugano (my former base) very difficult.
