I totally agree, however working the ramp (5 years) has driven me away from ever wanting to work (as a pilot) for a US airline even though I work for, what is on paper, one of the best legacy carriers in the industry.
The job is a lot of fun and you will get almost ANY question answered about ANYTHING the industry has to offer.
A blessing in disguise for me, I have learned so much about working abroad and the alternatives to that shiny airline job in general, I could not be happier with my future plans. Like I said, I have worked for what is on paper the best, and I worked for a company in Ch.11. To each his own you learn from everything- good luck!
