If you let her on, then you open up a pandora's box. You bring the jetway back to the airplane. As she is getting settled and you are brief her, another passenger comes down and demands to be put on the plane. Then you get further delayed.
You are either on time, or you're not.

Not only that but all of our flights are international so once it is closed that's it. Her bags would have already been removed as well since they have to be reconciled for security, customs, etc. They only allow you to pass through security and immigration if you have time to get to the boarding gate which means she had been there for a while milling around the terminal.
The sad thing is that many people will read it as she missed the plane and the company apologized to her. In reality she only got the upgrade and apology since the video was posted on youtube. The person who filmed it probably did so to cover their butt when she tried to make a bigger issue. After it was over they realized it was funny and it got on the net. She threw a fit in a public place so I have no sympathy for her.
