FP- here we go again. I'm no fan of attorneys or the litigious society we live in.

Fact- 49 people died because an aircraft took off on the wrong runway.

Although we know what happened, let's leave why that happened alone. The families of the victims should shrug and go "Oh well!" Bulls... If someone backed into your car and caused you damages, would any reasonable person say, "no amount of money can make it right..so oh well.." I don't think we can expect that from someone who has lost a relative. If you are able to look any of these relatives in the eye and say, "you are a money grubbing individual who is impacting thousands of other people...", fine go ahead.

Bottom line- someone or more probably several someones share responsibilty. This will hopefully come to light during the investigation. Perhaps this crash, through the economic cost of this lawsuit will drive additional safety equipment. From what I've read (no I don't know), incidents like these are not entirely uncommon. But there are cockpit techniques and tools to help prevent it.

Last thought- the sleazeballs who advertise on Google, TV and elsewhere are part of the reason that attorneys have a bad name. But I gaurantee you, when you need or want one, you'll want a good one.
