I hadn't ever really heard this merge rumor before. There's definately a lot more to pay than the basic rates and not having both contracts in front of me I have no idea the differences. PSA's contract is generally pretty good, so I would be inclined to agree that it's possible that PSA pay is better. While the schedules weren't so bad when I was there it sounds like it's gotten a lot worse since they got PDT schedulers so that could be a wash as well. I always agree that it's better to avoid a whipsaw when possible but within my admittedly limited knowledge US Air doesn't really whipsaw Piedmont and PSA. Lastly it's generally the policy in that type of merger to have some sort of seat lock, so the senior guys wouldn't be able to instantly bid over to the jet. It's possible they wouldn't even want to, it just depends on the bases and schedules, they'd want whatever makes them work the least.
