I.E. someone on a message board decides to further the effort to make another poster appear to be some unreasonable fool all over a statement that was grossly misunderstood. They then realize that they were wrong in their interpretation and then instead of simply apologizing, thus establishing a rapport of mutual respect where getting an actual dinner may have been possible, they attempt to cover up their mistake be feigning the attempt was simple teasing and was not in fact a post of actual criticism.
