You need to get some facts correct. Chautauqua never had junior manning so it was never dropped from the contract. There was only one certificate at the time, Chautauqua, with a threat of starting Republic. The 170s were put on the Chautauqua certificate until APA forced them to start Republic or pay fines. Shuttle America wasn't even in the picture. Pay was definately given up for scope along with numerous other items such as language and scheduling rules. I always thought it wasn't a good idea to put payscales for an aircraft that wasn't even "ordered". There were definate improvements over the previous contract, especially post 9-11, but it was by no means a bar to shoot for.
