Shuttle America wasn't even in the picture. Pay was definately given up for scope along with numerous other items such as language and scheduling rules. I always thought it wasn't a good idea to put payscales for an aircraft that wasn't even "ordered". There were definate improvements over the previous contract, especially post 9-11, but it was by no means a bar to shoot for.
1) I never said junior manning was ever dropped from the contract.
2) When Chautauqua had the 170's the Shuttle certficate was bought and going to be used for whipsaw. Republic didn't come till after Shuttle.
3) If you don't have some sort of protection against future aircraft you can find yourself in the same situation Midex is currently in. The company introduces one and forces it down your throat.
4) There was a battle to get everything on one seniority list after the purchase of Shuttle.
