I actually have no desire to debate the nuances of the 2nd amendment with anyone. I understand that most of the folks on this site are pro gun- ownership, and I'm not going to waste my time trying to convert anybody (that would be like trying to beat back the ocean with a hammer). I was trying to make 2 points, which I will try to summarize in a non-sarcastic manner. First of all, I believe that it is dishonest to use the 2nd amendment as justification for gun ownership (just admit that you think that they're fun and/or you feel protected by them). And the second point is that for MANY people, guns are a FALSE sense of security (see my second post in this thread for further clarification).
