You have to obtain oceanic clearance from Gander on VHF, sometimes through Moncton Center, or HF. Maybe he was kidding or "Dublin" ironically could have been a waypoint on the flight plan...hmmm?
You are correct, I was going off freq as I heard the transmission so I didn't get to hear the "response" from Shamrock. I have heard LA Center Controllers clear JetBlue direct Ft. Lauderdale from over So Cal airspace, they of course got probably put back on route down the line somewhere...
