I have to completely disagree with you Rick, I am by no means an expert, but I have many friends who have the type rating and were subsequently hired by UPS, FedEx, Airtran, JetBlue, and Continental after both successful and unsuccessful interviews with SWA. It may be different depending on what your background is, but I can tell you that the standard for the military instructors I work with is to go get the type with the ATP. Of course that only makes sense if you want to fly for SWA, so I guess it depends on where your priorities are. Just my two cents.
