This is about politics, not science.
Noah Keenlyside of Germany's Leipzig Institute of Marine Science research and modeling showed that global warming will be "offset" by 20 years by natural causes. He was only one of many scienctists who say the sky is not falling.
I'm am skeptical about the nature of GW, and I am not idealistic that if it is a problem that a) it can be solved by purchasing carbon credits or paying a carbon tax. b) humans are causing most of it.
It is not warming. The global temperature calculators (like GISS) all show the temperatures going down. 2008 was colder than 2007, which was colder than 2006. It hasn't gotten warmer since the big el nino year in the 90s (1997 I believe). That is why they had to switch to the term climate change.
The central proposition of the warmists is that CO2 is a dangerous pollutant because as concentrations go up, so does the temperature. CO2 concentrations went up last year but the temperature went down. I guess the science is settled.
CO2 is a trace gas--about .05% of the atmosphere. Most of that is there naturally--something exhaled it or something rotted or burned.
Warmists: When compared to the sun, do you really think a little change in the atmosphere affects the global climate?
And Ryan1234 is exactly right about it being about politics and not science.
