I have a very good friend at UPS who is going to the right seat of the 747 in ANC next week. He says UPS is likely to furlough 300. Their union is in talks with mngt about it now.

I am in my 3rd year at FedEx. Our mngt says "we have no intention of furloughing." We have 36 F/O and 20 CA vacancies open in HKG right now. We just announced 33 additional positions(not vacancies) in the 727 in South America.

Rumors are just rumors. We won't be hiring for years, but I doubt we will furlough. Of course, anything is possible.
