Just semantics, but UPS is threatening up to 300 furloughs. I personally don't believe that 300 pilots will get furloughed. Yes, our union is in talks with the company about VOULUNTARY programs that will reach their projected target of $54 million in savings. In fact, the data that we have presented to the company, if done correctly, will save them the $54 mil plus. We are NOT talking to them about any contractual concessions.

Now, knowing UPS, if they decide to send a message "to the inmates showing them who is running the asylum", I can see a furlough of about 100. If the DC8 is parked after peak, we will have extra FEs that have been displaced on paper that haven't been trained yet. They can be furloughed without any major impact on the system. I am holding out hope that UPS agrees to implement our cast savings ideas and these jobs may be spared. Only time will tell...
