I've been in the circumstance of an obscene # of reserves in the seat, and actually had absolutely no problem working home construction during the period, (while on 1-hour callout).
Not saying it's ideal - just saying to look at any bright side that might be out there. If that situation develops, a S/O will be utilized VERY little, and certainly will have the opportunity to try to supplement income during the time. Might be a great opportunity to look into that 'back-up' that Albie has mentioned a few times.
I think I averaged flying 2-3 days a month, and if it plays out like you think, probably one trip gets you free the rest of the month. If it plays out differently, your RLG will be up, but you'll be working them......
I hope things get better quickly.
Your scenario depends on living in domicile. If you don't, you're choices are to be severely underemployed or to quit and get another job. Definitely between a rock and a hard place.
BTW, good luck with home construction, McDonalds, or anything else this time around.
