Dan64456,
I'm sorry to hear about your work situation, people seem to be either a teamplayer or self centered. The economy I think is worsening self centrism and self preservation. I do feel we as people are listening to each other less and less well, and ultimately care for each other less and less well. I get home from work sometimes and I feel like my wife needs to pull the knife out of my back for me.
As for me, I am a full time CFI (II/MEI too). I just got no showed and had a "sick" student. I bet my third guy is a no show. A former sign off student just went and did something egregiously stupid, and I'm being questioned as to how I taught the guy. Management and maintenance either don't listen to us or blame us for their screw ups. The DPEs scold us for problems they actually have with maintenance or the flight school. Oh yeah, if anyone asks we don't have to sit around the airport unless we have work, but the boss actually enforces otherwise. Sit and wait for no pay. And this isn't a mom and pop type place either-No it's not Riddle, but no mom and pop.
Sorry, but I'm growing weary of being the whipping boy and driven into the ground in the process. I really do think the problems at higher piloting levels are partially fueled by the crap foundations at the instructor/diver driver level. If instructors weren't desperate to leave, maybe the regionals would have to compensate better. Think about it.
Finally, my feeling is that we are all lamenting a problem that is bigger than just aviation, and that is a cheapening of society and the workplace. So I'd say I agree in parts with both de727 and Skyhigh. Both have good points.
The truth probably lies somewhere in between.
