I doubt they would have done it for some and not for others, and everyone that I talked to from the Dec recalls said they did get 2nd year pay. Im not sure who your friend is but if he didnt get it then he should have, and the company owes him a lot of money.
As with many other aspects of our contract, this issue is open to interpretation. There is absolutely no mention of longevity in the furlough section, and there are some instances where a pilot may be on unpaid status and still accrue longevity for a period of time. Since it is not mentioned, past practice is very important here. The pilots furloughed in 2001 and 2003 received longevity while on furlough, so it would be difficult for the company to deny it this time around.
If you want to be on the safe side, plan to be right back where you left off. Then when you get your first check, you may be pleasantly surprised.
