As with many other aspects of our contract, this issue is open to interpretation. There is absolutely no mention of longevity in the furlough section, and there are some instances where a pilot may be on unpaid status and still accrue longevity for a period of time. Since it is not mentioned, past practice is very important here. The pilots furloughed in 2001 and 2003 received longevity while on furlough, so it would be difficult for the company to deny it this time around.

If you want to be on the safe side, plan to be right back where you left off. Then when you get your first check, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Man! I am diggin' what you are saying!

I am curious to see how it will go for this next 12 that I have just missed. Those have been out for 8 months. I just hope you are right and they will continue the practice. It would make a huge difference especially considering you can't pick up OT, min pay on reserve, commuting to ACY (crashpad, cab ride, "I am bored in the pad" beer... etc.). Who knows we may be on 3rd year before all this is over and everyone is back. So yeah $40 vs $52 makes a big difference. 30% to be exact.
