Here is an exciting tidbit from the RLA:

If no agreement is reached by the end of the 30-day cooling off period, the parties are free to exercise "self-help." This means that the carrier is free to impose its last offer, temporarily cease operations or engage in other self-help activity (e.g., hiring permanent replacements). The union is free to strike or engage in other self-help activity.

Now call me crazy, but I don’t think that they will have trouble hiring permanent replacements. Scott, what is the point of voting for a strike, if you do not intend on striking. Do you think that we will scare the company into submission? No, we will not... In fact, we will end up losing more. Like I said in an earlier post... Let’s protect our ALREADY good work rules (we have already voted last year {Wilson Poll}, and seen firsthand that our work rules are much more important than pay). We have zero leverage.
