If it was an emergency situation that required the Chief Pilots notification by you in the chain of command then you had every right to call. If it was not an emergency and/or urgent situation, as it sounds like is the case, and you called the Chief on a holiday weekend to complain about something then I agree with maxjet...you were WAY out of line and although I probably would not have reacted in such a way, I would have politely asked you to stop by my office to chat about your problems at a more appropriate time.

On top of that, the chain of command exists so that problems can be dealt with at the lowest possible level. By bypassing the chain of command, you are disrespecting all of those whom you bypassed, as well as the Chief. Going directly to the top is not the proper protocol unless the urgency of the situation requires it.
