I also began instructing there in 2001. Take it for what it's worth. It's an instructor job. I remember getting paid $10.00/hr. There was a test before the interview or CFI stuff. In the interview I sat with the President of the school, the Vice President, Chief Pilot, Assistant Chief and one Group Leader. There was a few basic HR questions from the Vice President. A few WWYD if questions from the assistant Chief and then the President asked me to explain P-factor to her. She claimed that she had no clue what it was and wanted to see where I would start with fresh student pilot. Once hired we went through a week and a half Standardization Class. Let me tell you that looking back on it now it wasn't that bad, but when I started at the airlines, my initial ground school was easier than that standz class. Well...Less stressful anyway. There was a check flight in the middle of that class as well. All being said, I had much more fun teaching at DCA than putting up with Company/Union politics at Comair. If I could get paid a decent wage and be home every night I wouldn't hesitate to take the job.
