You should [Not must] take the test that most accurately relates to the type of operation you intend to use your ATP certificate for."

Now I have decided to take the 121 test especially how easy Sheppardair.com makes studying, but I think for the benefit of others it would be a good idea to get this straightened out.

Thanks!
Your ATP cert is valid for any type of operation regardless of which written you took.

When you take the checkride, the oral will deal with either 121 or 135 questions, depending on which written you took. I suspect that if you upgrade at an airline they probably want you to have the 121 written done, since they are going to discuss 121, not 135 operations. A 121 in-house DPE might not be required to have any 135 knowledge.

So if you think you might get your ATP by upgrading at an airline, I would do the 121 version.
