In this day and age, you have to assume the worst. It applied when I was a fighter pilot with two oft-quoted axioms:

1. Plan for the worst; hope for the best; take what you get.

2. Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a grease-pencil, and cut it with an axe. (OK, this doesn't apply for this example, but was too funny to pass up).

Ref #1 really came into play after 9/11 in the airline business. So that's why guys are cautious here, per Eck4Life's worthwhile advice.

The link that hotshot posted is very similar to the quality of Flight International....might even be one.
