Never Give Up
John:
While the odds are 0.069 (or less), if you want to try, call some units.
An age waiver is probably zero. A squadron will do this for a guy who has been there for years (say, a navigator, and the unit is converting to an airplane with no navigators), but for a guy off the street, I'd call it zero.
BUT: if some unit had a guy lined-up to go to UPT in Sept, who then fell out, they might be looking for a quick stand-in. I don't know if you could jump all the hoops in time, but you won't know unless you try.
You would have the best chances at units that are WAY off the beaten-path that historically cannot fill their manning. Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota come to mind (although I don't know if they have Guard or Reserve units in those states due to closures in the last few years).
There's an old fighter-saying: "A fighter pilot never gives up until he's dead, and then he doesn't care." Pretty good advice, actually.
Good luck. Don't give up.
